TESTIMONIALS

Donna Gaines testimonial - Story & Soul Weekend

“Your soul…

has a unique God-shaped vacuum that only He can fill. With the demands of our busy lives, pulling away for a weekend to focus on scripture–God’s Story, and your soul will bless you and refresh you beyond what you can imagine. I love the team at Story and Soul and they do a fantastic job of preparing for you! You will experience relevant Bible teaching, authentic worship and an opportunity for connecting with other women. This retreat is ideal for your small group or women’s ministry. I have participated the last two years and know you will leave refreshed, refocused and saying, ‘Look what God has done!!’”

Donna Gaines

Pastor’s Wife, Mom of four and Nonna to eleven, Author, Bible Teacher, Bellevue Baptist Church

“I am so excited about what awaits all of the ladies that choose to attend Story and Soul Weekend. These few days will be a delightful time for them to slow down and listen to God together. I believe that days like this can change a life! I know the heart and thought and prayer that goes into this retreat, and I urge all who would like to experience a fresh touch from God to sign up right away! I promise, it will do your soul GOOD.”

Rick Sayger

Lead Pastor, Colonial Hills Church

We love when mothers and daughters attend Story & Soul Weekend together! Hear how the experience impacted this precious mother-daughter trio:

PEYTON

"Story & Soul is a gathering of women of all ages, sharing their faith, bonding, and spending time together. There’s not too much structure, and it gave me the opportunity to form relationships with women beyond Sunday morning interactions. It’s such a peaceful setting, and the rooms are decorated so beautifully."

story&soul2017-57.jpg

CHARLOTTE

"We were so pleasantly surprised. They just spoil you from the time you walk in until the time you leave, the perfect balance of structure and rest. Story & Soul gave my daughters a new level of comfortability with one girl in particular. Story & Soul is what launched that deeper friendship for them and has been the perfect stepping stone for a mentor or discipleship relationship rather than just another face at church."

story&soul2017-52.jpg

BRENNAN

"It’s actually a retreat. Relationships have an opportunity to form through those quieter times when you can rest and have unforced conversations—just real talk."

“During the weekend, our women’s group had the opportunity to slow down, connect with one another, and center on God’s Word.  The keynote speakers were of excellent quality, as were the breakout session leaders, offering our women biblical truths that were both relevant and applicable in their everyday living. The entire experience was wonderful, from the warm hospitality to the cozy accommodations!  I could tell much thought went into each detail of the retreat weekend.  I would highly recommend Story & Soul Weekend to any women’s group looking for a Christ-centered weekend retreat.”

FAQ

FAQ

Who can participate in Story & Soul Weekend?

We serve women and women's ministries in the Memphis, Tennessee area*:

  • Individuals, small groups, discipleship groups, mothers and daughters, and friends who attend Story & Soul will come away refreshed by the solid scriptural focus, the slow, restful itinerary, and the space to connect with God and one another. Read a few testimonials here!

  • Ministries who partner with us are able to provide their women with a meaningful, quality, vision-rich retreat without overextending their leaders. (Interested in your women's ministry participating in the 2019 retreat? Email us at storyandsoulweekend@gmail.com.)

*Hey, if you love what we're doing and live out of town, we'd love for you to travel to us and attend the weekend!

What is the difference between a room in the inns and a room in the cottages?

Rooms in the Harvest and Hospitality Inns are spacious, beautifully decorated, and designed to be shared between four women. Each room has its own bathroom with two basin sinks, large vanity, and separate rooms for the toilet and shower.  Most of the rooms in the inn have two queen beds. Click here to see a video tour and photos of the inns.

The cottages are cozy with bunk style beds designed to be shared between eight or more women. Each cottage has central heat & air, private cubbies for each guest & extra long twin mattresses. The entry way & bathroom are in the middle of the cottage, separating the bunks into five beds on each side. Click here to see a video tour and photos of the cottages.

Will I be able to choose my roommates?

When you register, you'll be able to write down the names of those you'd like to room with. There are four women per Inn room and at least eight women per cottage (a great option for a church small group!). One of the core values of Story & Soul Weekend is sisterhood, and we pray that the time in your room will be meaningful, restful, and fun. Reach out to women you'd like to get to know better and make plans to room together. Or, if you prefer not to decide, leave the rooming up to us or your church representatives!

Why December?

December is certainly a difficult month both for our schedules and for our bank accounts! However, through prayerful consideration, we realized that this is when women most need an opportunity to be still, to connect with God and one another. Participants will likely find that their Advent season is richer and simpler because of the intentional restfulness and connection that occurs at Story & Soul Weekend.

What is the cost of the weekend and what's included?

To stay in the inns, the cost is $249 per person. If you choose to stay in the cottages, the cost is $195 person. Lodging, all meals, coffee, worship sessions, breakout sessions, and a long sleeve t-shirt are all included in the cost.

When do I need to pay?

A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required when you sign up for the weekend. You can also pay the full amount upon registration. The remaining balance needs to be paid by the first Sunday in November. After this, the remaining balance is nonrefundable. Email us at storyandsoulweekend@gmail.com or talk to your women's ministry leader for more registration and payment details.

When will I be able to pick my breakout sessions?

We will email all participants (likely at the end of October!) with breakout descriptions and details on how to register for each breakout session. Some of our creative breakout sessions may have a small fee depending on the session leader's plans, but we will contact participants closer to the date to sign up for these breakouts, and you can pay any additional fees (no more than $10) at that time.

How can I get prepared for this weekend?

We believe that preparing your mind and heart prior to Story & Soul will help you to connect with God and with others in a richer, more meaningful way. A week or two before the event, we will send a heart preparation packet with devotionals and a packing list to all participants.
