"Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul." Psalm 66:16
We love scripture because it's hundreds of different stories of God: who He is, what He's done, the salve and salvation He is for souls. Story & Soul Weekend is designed to be a scripture-rich experience that exalts God's word above any gimmick, above any theme, fully acknowledging that His story is what makes all other stories worth telling. Through worship sessions filled with truth-teaching, truth-telling, and soul-singing, it is our prayer that every participant would come away saying, "Look what God has done!"
"But I have calmed and quieted my soul." Psalm 131:2
Often we cannot connect with God or with each other because we can't turn off our treadmill way of life. Story & Soul Weekend is designed to be a screeching halt, an opportunity to hit the breaks. With a carefully-planned itinerary that includes extended morning coffee talks, slow meals, personal devotional time, creative outlets, and even a nap and stretching class, it is our prayer that participants would leave refreshed, with a stilled and filled soul.
"They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." Acts 2:46
In the planning process, we have prayerfully considered how to inspire participants to connect, how to inspire sisterhood rather than simply pew-sharing. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus can be found eating with people. It may have been His primary means for enriching relationships. We believe the texture of a wooden table, the clangs of dishes, the aroma of fresh-baked bread are common sensations that continue to provide the backdrop for uncommon connections. As we gather around the table for a special Saturday evening dinner, a meal that will look a little different than the other weekend meals, we pray soul-stories will be told, that relationships will be forged, that holy conversation will bring glory to The Bread of Life.
